Adrian Peterson To Begin Running On February 28
At least, that's what he told Paul Allen of KFAN-FM 100.3 this morning, in any case.
"I'm definitely making improvement. I'm starting to get my muscle tone and strength back into the legs," Peterson told Paul Allen on KFAN. "I'm happy with the progress I've made so far. I'm extremely happy."
Almost immediately after he suffered the injury he did on Christmas Eve against the Washington Redskins, Adrian Peterson said that he would be back by Week 1 of the 2012 regular season. As it stands now, he's on schedule with his rehab (at the very least), and could very well be ahead of schedule. Since I've never torn an ACL or anything, I really don't know what the "schedule" looks like, but the fact that he's getting ready to run again already can't be anything but a positive sign.
After all the stadium drama and all the other negativity that has been surrounding this team recently, it's nice to get a little bit of positive news, isn't it?

That's my boy!
AD is a beast and will be back in no time. No one’s going to work harder. Lock for Comeback player of the year? Maybe they’ll give it to Cook. HA.
I tore my ACL my Sr year in HS(11 years ago). I waited a year to have surgery though because I didn’t want to be on crutches my first year at college(golfed there). I was golfing after a couple of months(albeit basically one-legged), but running takes a little while. It sounds silling even for an athlete of AD’s caliber, but the muscle atrophy is ridiculous. My entire leg looked like I lost about 25% of the muscle mass I had before the surgery. You’d be surprised how quickly that goes if you’re not doing anything on that leg. Also, when you have one leg stronger than the other it can cause you to run unevenly. When you’re young and everything’s going good you take that stuff for granted, but you almost need to concentrate on being as balanced as possible in both your rehab and even just running otherwise you’ll start some bad habit. If you’ve got different strides for each leg it can lead to hip/ankle/other knee/back problems. It’s really crazy how the entire body works together.
Can’t stress enough how incredible it really is that Ced even got back on the field after his 2nd ACL and we’ve all seen the incredible difference those surgeries/injuries can have. Best of luck to AD and get better soon. We need you now more than ever.

A while back they said
He would soon be able to start running in water. Anyone who has been in water before knows you are nearly weightless while in water. Therefore we can assume the reason they want him to start out in water is that it will be much easier on his knee than dry land. Peterson made no indication either way so it would be interesting to know if he is running on land or water. I would be extremely surprised if he was running around on land already (if he had started in water already I think there would have been some news on that) but who knows.

GD, they said he's not going to start running until the end of the month.
He could be running under water. Its just about working the knee but not having any impact from the ground. I would assume he had some meniscus damage and that is actually more painful than an ACL tear because those are essentially the pads between your bones. Walking could even still have some slight pain and discomfort, underwater should feel fine.

I agree with the runnig in water being weightless
There is also the added drag from the water on your body to effectively increase the muscle exertion. So it’s easier on the knee as well as more strenuous for the muscle. In my opinion that would be better than running on land, right now any way.
That was really, really fast.

The day LeBron James wins an NBA championship will be the day I stop watching NBA basketball. Needless to say, it looks like I'll be watching for quite a few more years.
Did anybody notice?
The date he will begin running is the 28th. I thought it was kind of a neat coincidence.
February 28
Just so happens to be my birthday. Clearly, this is a birthday present for me, and has to be the best one I’ve ever gotten.
