NFL Hall of Fame Announcement Coming at 4:30 PM Central
The National Football League will be announcing its Hall of Fame Class of 2012 this afternoon, with the NFL Network airing the announcement live at 4:30 PM Central time. I'm guessing that the NFL Network will be streaming this announcement on their website, and if that's the case we'll get a link for it up here.
We've been over this whole thing numerous times. . .the Minnesota Vikings have two players that are eligible for enshrinement again this year in defensive end Chris Doleman and wide receiver Cris Carter. We all know that it's nothing short of completely and utterly ridiculous that Carter isn't already in, and it seems like this would be a good year for him to get in. . .it isn't a particularly strong class and, quite frankly, he's better than the other wide receivers that are eligible this year along with him.
Doleman has a shot to get in, I think. . .maybe some of the attention from Jared Allen's chase for the sack record will make people notice Doleman. I'm not sure if he gets in this time, but it wouldn't be the biggest shock ever if he did, either.
The announcements are coming in about half an hour, ladies and gentlemen. We can discuss and (hopefully) celebrate at least one of our team's greats winding up in Canton this year as it happens.

Carter - snubbed yet again
"You can write articles and do whatever you want, you can break down every player. Good, bad or ugly. But we just aren't good enough as a team, as a group. Offensively, defensively and special teams, from the No. 1 on the roster to the last man on the roster. We just aren't good enough. It's as simple as that." - Chad Greenway

I'm happy....
… for Chris Doleman, Floyd Peters’ doberman! One of my favorite players from my favorite era of Vikings football. Well deserved.
What’s going on with Chris Carter? Has his highlight footage been burned? The man should have been in by now…. my god, his HANDS!
Congrats to Doleman!
I didn’t think he’d make it in this year.
I can’t believe the hall is still dicking around Carter. Unbelievable.
reminds me of the govt
And the stadium

Seriously
Just take Carter off the list rather than stringing him along. These jagoffs have made it perfectly clear that they’re not voting him in.

marshall changed the game
jim marshall changed the game behind the scenes. the things he did in offseason hurt him more than playing nfl. compound fracture in both legs skydiving . if u ever see the nfl films on marshall . he did many crazy things in off season …… now in player contracts they put in things for not doing crazy things in offseason . oh yeah and was the orig. iron man 282 in a row.
Congratulations to Chris Doleman
Its good to see another Viking get in. That said, has there been any explanation for the complete snub of Cris Carter? Are the voters confusing him with the guy who directed the X-files? This is unexcuseable.
Originally it was “Well, we can’t let him in until Jerry Rice gets in.”
Then it was “Ehh, all he really did was catch touchdowns. Plus, he runs his mouth a little bit.”
Now it’s “Why should we vote any pre-2000s WRs in? Look at the numbers! Who cares that it’s a passing league now and Wes Welker’s right nut has more receiving yards than most old receivers.”
Receivers...
…. were protected much less and could get man-handled much more back then. A dirty look five yards past the line of scrimmage will draw a flag these days.
Good point
And probably not one that a lot of people take into consideration.

Add in changes to quarterback protection
So now there are a bazillion rules against physically manhandling the passer and ringing his bell… which means that a good quarterback isn’t quite as scared of sitting around until he can get a good pass off, leading to more and more yards being put up.

Ok are they going to look at QB's the same way then?
Are Peyton, Brady, and Brees going to have to wait because they played in the era of inflated passing numbers because of rules that favored the passing game? I think not and as posted by others above CC played before all the rule changes that favor passing offenses.
