Hope this hasn't been done to death here but as a fan since 1971 when the little soft shell that was Wee Crabby fell in love with a Skinny man in Purple and a Horned helmet running for his life through the snow of the old Met.
So I have spent the day reflecting on what it means to be a viking fan and try to guide our ship to the Valhalla of a Super Bowl through the Storms of Thor and I wanted to reflect on the 6 hardest ON FIELD moments of my Viking Fandom.. Feel free to throw in your own...
6- Too many men on the Field leading to Bret trying his ill advised cross the body throw that turned into a Bounty Hunters dream Interception for the Saints.......having to relive this because of recent news brings it home even more
5- Gary Anderson- oh no Gary oh Gary oh Gary.. I couldn't even spawn with Mrs. Crabby for weeks after that one.
4- Super Bowl Loss to the Raiders--- Even I knew that we were overmatched before this one kicked off-- Upshaw and Shell killed us and every time I see poor Sammy take that hit from Tatum feel it in my claws... But I had hope, and only Hope can lead to despair
3- loss to the Steelers- Ditto the Riaders loss but oh that darn hope
2- loss to the Dolphins- this was the one I thought we'd win... This was the year giant wooden hammer came down and mushed my heart and shell and I was dipped in steaming butter.........Over 40 years of fandom and I haven't been redemmed even once
1- That freaking Drew Pearson and his illegal push- That sanctimonious Staubach and that blasphemous team with the star on their helmets should've been banned form the league---God how I loathe them.....
Misery loves company-- so share if you will
