This quiet free agency period on the Minnesota Vikings behalf, well is really painful to swallow. Of course all of us had wild dreams of the Vikings landing a top FA, but in reality, that wasn't likely to begin with. Money talks obviously, but I firmly trust the front office for now in their approach. With that being said, am I alone not being in full throttle "Kail or bust"? I mean, with so many holes, the Vikings should draft Best Player Available. What if the Vikings feel that Kalil isn't the BPA? Would it be so painful to accept that maybe, just maybe a Clabiorne, Blackmon (which I'm weary of at this spot), or hell even Richardson could benefit this team more than a Kalil?
There is no doubt that the Vikings need some rebuilding of the O-line, but I am not an "all or nothing" fan of drafting Kalil. I actually agree with some of the things Spielman has recently stated, on behalf of the importance of playmakers over LT. Yes, It may be a smokescreen to trade back, but then again It might not be. I know the O-Line isn't that good, but look at the Browns. They drafted Joe Thomas and he hasn't helped win them games or even develop a QBOTF. I think the Vikings are hurting much worse when it comes to D-backs and even wide outs. To simply put it, It wouldn't kill me to have a Shut-Down potential DB on the team grouped with Chris Cook. That, IMO is worth a pick 3 selection. As for Blackmon, I'd rather wait at wide receiver. The Giants have starters from rounds 2 back at the wide out positions, and their doing just fine with them. I could even live with us drafting Trent Richardson. Ap's not a sure thing anymore and this could keep our running game strong if the inevitable happens and we have to depart with purple Jesus. And for the meantime if AP is back and strong, we could crush the ball down people's throat. Note that our run blocking is far better than our pass blocking. I don't know which direction the Vikings are leaning, but either way, I'd be satisfied with a Premier player that could help this team with pick 3.
