Why Didn't We Solidify at WR in FA. Worried? Don't blame ya.

OK. We have dump 8 starters. We need to construct an O-line and seconday. At the same time we have no legit deep threat for our young QB of the future. So we spend around 25 million for John Carlson. I like John and with the loss of Jimmy K to retirement and not resigning Shanks, Carlson gives us a recipe for a two TE set which makes the short passing game doable for Ponder and build his confidence. Harvin gives us the excellent ingrediant to this rescipe shortpass (and mid range ability). I doubt unless we sign Shwartz and draft Kahlil we even have a chance at Ponder building his long game nor even have the threat. Tho, he has occasional luck with Jenkins we needed someone that could keep the oppositions secondary a little worried and spread them out. Of course these are not prime time guys. One is aging and the other inconsistant. But the price tag for these two would have been the same, or less, than Carlsons. So along with Carlson and hopefully Shwartz. We would have made it possible to draft Kahlil, corners or a big guard. What I had in mind ( or something similar) in this FA, save some cash idea. was inking Brandon Lloyd and Manningham (examples). Both signed moderatly low contracts at about the same price and low guarantees. Roughly 3 years at 12 million each. Unless we scraped the Kahlil plan for a WR we were not going to get a WR that could help right away in this draft. That would mean aquiring another 1st round pick and going with Reiff or Martin. Which is astretch of a trade hope. Lloyd is 30 yrs old but, always reliable, seldom injured, with good hands and speed to boot. While Manningham is considered inconsistant. He often palyed along side another WR who was his equal or better. So I never saw it as inconsistant as much as it was the Giants had multiple targets (which is something we need). When Manningham was the go-to guy in a game, he could turn in some block buster performances. This is now water under the bridge. What I am gettting at is that I see no logic in this so-called "Ricky Plan".ity We had way too many needs to fill that demanded some free agent activity. We were told to be patient and then sat by and watched market unfoldand the run ob WR's go by without inviting even one in. Except we will proboly spend the same amount signing Tedd Ginn to give Percy a breather on special teams and hope he can eventually learn to catch like a NFL WR after five years in the league. Is it me? But, as I look at what we could have tried to do or something like it. NOTHING of significance happened. All the time we are told to be patient -"we have a plan". Well, so far I think that plan has unraveled or just totally stinks. I am beginning to go with - totally stinks which leads me to worry about what might come of the 3rd round pick. Are we going to passon Kahlil for a guy we could have traded back for and aquired more picks? I am beginning to really worry about what the draft plan is when they won't buy pieces that would help at bargain rates. If we pass on Kahlil without aquiring a boatload of picks, I will then know we have gone to the dogs.
