Here is my 5 round mock draft for the Minnesota Vikings, I left out the compensation picks for now. Let me know what u think.........
1-3 Matt Kalil, OT, USC
This is a no brainer, we kill two birds with one stone by moving Charlie Johnson to Left Guard. All of a sudden our O-Line goes from a weakness to strength in 2012.
Other Possibilities: none this makes too much sense.
2-35 Mark Barron, SS, Alabama
I admit this is a bit of a stretch having Mark fall this far. But durability issues may lead some to back away from the star safety. The Vikings haven’t had a hard hitting safety since Robert Griffith. Remember that guy? Use to love watching him.
Other Possibilities: Kendall Wright WR, Alshon Jeffery WR, Stephon Gilmore CB
3-66 Chase Minnifield CB, Virginia
Chase would fit in perfect with the cover 2. He doesn’t have elite speed but that isn’t necessarily needed in a cover 2 scheme. He is a solid tackler and would help a secondary that was a disaster last year.
Other possibilities: Nick Toon WR, Marvin Jones WR
4-98 Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa
At 6’ 3 and 216 has good size and speed to help stretch the field. He is as solid as they come when it comes to 4th rounders. Good route running and great hands may have his stock jumping higher as the draft approaches.
5-130 Tommy Streeter, WR, Miami
I really like Streeter as a prospect, has great size at 6’5 and showed surprising speed running in the mid 4.45 range at the combine. Really seeing him being taken with our compensation pick in the 4th round, is a bit raw in the route running but dangerous in the red zone.
The Rest of the draft is look for the best available LB, DT, a Kicker in the 7th
