So I am not sure if a lot of folks saw this Kevin Seifert article on ESPN, but I thought it was worth posting. I have seen a lot of frustration on the DN regarding Coach Frazier. I, personally, am a fan of his. I do believe the jury is still out, and do not presume to know if he is the real solution for us or not. What I do know is that I think the pace of the coaching carousel in the NFL is ridiculous. All of the great coaches in the NFL go through turbulence, and it is the franchises that stick with their coaches that get the long term benefit. Take a look at the article and take the poll after the jump.
Give it a read. I think that it has a lot of merit. Like I said, the jury is still out on Leslie. However don't we owe it to a team in transition, with a starting QB coming off of a rookie year that was both promising and challenging and finally an actual human being in the role of GM, to let this play out a bit? I think a coach should be judged by what the team accomplishes, once they have built a roster for success. Brad Childress earned his firing. Leslie (IMHO) deserves that chance to earn that, or a contract extension, neither of which is possible in what is clearly a rebuilding year.
Poll
Should the Vikings extend Frazier's contract and for how long?
Maybe. Give him one more year and let's see what he can do this year and next. (69 votes)
Yes, let's give him a chance. Sign him for 2-3 more years. (29 votes)
Yes, he's the long term solution! Sign him for five more. (3 votes)
No way. He'll be lucky if he makes it through 2012, when we can go after a coach with more pedigree. (20 votes)
