As Jshore posted in the FanPosts, the Minnesota Vikings have signed cornerback Chris Carr to a one-year contract on Wednesday afternoon.

The 28-year old Carr will be entering his eighth NFL season in 2012. He began his career with the Oakland Raiders, had one season with the Tennessee Titans, and had spent the last three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. He was a full-time starter for the Ravens in 2010, but was limited to just nine games in 2011 due to injuries to his hamstring and back. He played less than 20% of the Ravens' defensive snaps this past season.

In 107 NFL games, he has started 25 times, registering six interceptions, 24 passes defended, and seven forced fumbles.

It appears that Rick Spielman is serious about his philosophy of bargains in free agency while hoping to get foundation-type players in the NFL Draft. But hopefully between guys like Carr and Zack Bowman and the returns of Antoine Winfield and Chris Cook, the Vikings' secondary can be significantly better than it was a season ago.
