Minnesota Vikings Release Running Back Caleb King

Stay connected for news and updates

Per Jeremy Fowler of the St. Paul Pioneer Press (via the Twitter) just a few minutes ago, the Minnesota Vikings have released running back Caleb King.

On Saturday, King was jailed on suspicion of third-degree assault after an altercation he had with a man at a friend's birthday party in Minneapolis. The reports were that King beat the victim badly enough to cause brain damage and a fractured skull.

The genesis of the fight apparently came when the person that got beaten said that King looked a lot like Eddie Murphy. Don't get me wrong, I know that Axel Foley has had a bit of a bad run recently, but really. . .that's grounds for allegedly beating the hell out of somebody these days?

King has been released from the Anoka County Jail, but after doing their own fact-finding on the situation, the Vikings have apparently decided that they've heard enough.
