Keeper League Help

Stay connected for news and updates

I love fantasy football.

I am currently in the second year of a 16 team Keeper League. As we have to announce our keeper players soon, I need some help. Since it is an incredibly deep league, my roster might not look like your typical fantasy team. Each team designates two players as "keepers" and the rest enter a regular draft pool. I finished 6th in 2011, so I will be drafting 10th. Here is my ending roster from last year:

QB: Jake Locker - TEN
QB: Christian Ponder - MIN
QB: Carson Palmer - OAK
RB: Maurice Jones-Drew - JAC
RB: Steven Jackson - STL
RB: Kevin Smith - DET
WR: Malcolm Floyd - SD
WR: Denarius Moore - OAK
WR: Santana Moss - WAS
WR: David Nelson - BUF
WR: Reggie Wayne - IND
WR: Devin Aromashadu - MIN
TE: Rob Gronkowski - NE
K: John Kasay - NO
DEF: Houston

At first glance, MJD and Gronk are obvious choices. But, I love to second guess myself. What if Gabbert makes no improvement and Jacksonville sees eight guys in the box every play? What if Gronk doesnt recover from his injury and Hernandez gets those targers instead?

Carson Palmer is a wild card, I love his talent but I hate his talent around him. Christian Ponder brings out the Vikings homer inside of me but I dont think he is better than 14 other players on my roster.
Steven Jackson has been on a down swing lately. He is a guy I look at every year thinking he will finally crank out that 1500 yards and 12 touchdown season he is capable of.
My receivers are collectively average. None of them are keeper status, except maybe Aromashadu (kidding).

I expect the keeper players from the other 15 teams to go down like this: Drew Brees and Julio Jones, Tony Romo and Darren McFadden, Mike Wallace and Josh Freeman, Eli Manning and Wes Welker, Frank Gore and Lesean McCoy, Michael Vick and A.J. Green, Aaron Rodgers and Desean Jackson, Cam Newtona and Rashard Mendenhall, Matt Schaub and Adrian Peterson, Philip Rivers and Michael Turner, Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson, Ray Rice and Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and Roddy White, Matt Ryan and Arian Foster, Tom Brady and Andre Johnson.

As you can see, no other tight ends will probably locked up. The keeper players are going to be heavily used on receivers and quarterbacks and Ive always felt runningbacks have the least seperation from top to bottom. All this makes me less confident in locking up Gronk and MJD. But at the end of the day, I think I will be franchising these two players, they are ranked 7 and 17 in Yahoo! Sports latest fantasy football rankings, which is a great combo in a 16 team league.

Let me know in the comments who you think Poppycock should lock up and look to draft in the frist round! Also, what is a good logo when your teamname is Poppycock?
