In light of the Percy Harvin situation, I was wondering just how much cap space the Minnesota Vikings had left in the event that they wanted to give him a contract extension. Thanks to the folks at Pro Football Talk, I have my answer to that question.

As of today, the Vikings still have $10.59 million of salary cap space remaining, which at this point of the off-season is still a decent chunk of change. There are 11 NFL teams that currently have more cap space remaining than the Vikings do.

From looking at Spotrac, the best source I know of for salaries on the internet, the Vikings don't have any players that are set to be free agents after this season that could really be classed as really pressing needs. 2013, however, could potentially be a big year for the Vikings to get their in-house free agents signed to deals, as players like Percy Harvin, Jared Allen, Chris Kluwe, and the 2010 draft class (Chris Cook, Toby Gerhart, Everson Griffen, etc.) will be in the final year of their contracts in 2013.

As far as what they're going to do with the rest of their current cap space, I'm not sure if they're waiting for camp cuts to potentially do anything or how things are going to go for Rick Spielman and company. There are still a couple of spots that the Vikings could use some more bodies at, but it remains to be seen if or when the team will make any more moves.
