Every year there is a player that emerges from the pack to stake a place on the starting roster, and in some cases even becomes one of Ted's Stock Market Report's "Solid Investments" throughout the year.
Last season there was a lot of discussion surrounding Brian Robison following the departure of the solid Ray Edwards to the Atlanta Falcons. Many said that Robison couldn't hold up on a full-time basis and that using the franchise tag on Greenway instead of Edwards was a huge mistake.
Boy were they wrong! Robison proved that not only could he hold up over the course of a game and the season, but he could match the production of Edwards and prove that he was not just a situational pass rusher.
Erin Henderson was another player who's promotion to the starting line-up was met with trepidation, however it turned out to be a solid move by the front office. Although Henderson still has room for improvement, hopefully he will go on to have a big season for the Vikings this year and earn the big contract he has been looking for.
So my fellow DN'ers, who is it going to be this year? Who will emerge from the pack and surprise everyone by his production and play? I'm not talking about Rookies here - i'm looking at the 'depth' players in the roster. Will any of these guys show enough to earn a starting spot on the team, and follow that up with unexpected levels of production.
Cheers!
