Sage Rosenfels was recently asked about his feeling of how Christian Ponder was doing, his response, "He has his ups and downs, but he continues to gain confidence every day." Not sugar coating his comment for the media just straight forward, exactly what Ponder and the Vikings need. Rosenfels has played behind several Pro Bowl quarterbacks and has worked with the best and is why Minnesota brought him in.
Ponder's professional career is about a year old now and when Minnesota drafted him, we heard some serious critisim. Especially from the holder of all the NFL Quarterback records a pre Hall of Famer, Trent Dilfer, who stated that he compared Ponder to Elvis Grbac and ststed we made a mistake and to keep Ponder on a short leash. Well how can you argue from a quarterback that absolutely light up the league as a star. Like "Dillweed" Dilfer too many people judged Christian on his 2011 abreviated preformance, all we want to see is progress, that's it.
Rosenfels comments are exactly what Ponder and the Vikings need, honesty. Are we as crappy as a lot believe or have we blown it out of the water and are a Super Bowl contender, no on both accounts. We are better and continuing to do so, some early predictions have us 5-11 to 6-10, just a little better than last year. Even as bad as our record was last year, we were only a play or two from a .500 record at least, it's better that we are ignored right now that will allow us to fly under the radar as they say. Right now lets be straight forward and not give snap judgements or give empty praise, because it will show more growth and wins in the end.
