So far, in this young season, what all of you should get excited and optimistic about, is not only the fact that Christian Ponder appears light years better than his rookie season, but that our team as a whole is in The top Half(15) in every important category.
The Vikings Pathetic, Horrible, Embarrassing, Merciful, Trashy Secondary of last year, is now, wait for it... continue to wait, get some water, you may faint,
The 2012 Minnesota Vikings secondary are 9th in the league against the pass. Holy crap, did anyone have a heart attack? I hope not!
Match that, with the 8th best defense so far in the league!
Not only that, but our offense as a whole is 15th in the league! (9th rushing, 18th passing, which could improve with Simpson coming back)
Boy are we a very balanced team. I know we've faced the likes of a rookie, Blaine Gabbert, and Alex Smith so far, but to jump from 30th to 9th in pass defense is a very significant accomplishment so far. Pass Defense and QB play was two of the Biggest Concerns coming into this season. So far, both have exceeded expectations by a large margin. Of course, this week we will truly find out how much improved our secondary is against the pass. Hopefully, Ponder can continue his consistency and Musgrave doesn't get too happy with designing plays for Simpson.
Folks, I have a feeling we have a pretty deadly young team on our hands. Watch out NFL!
