I know I mentioned it in my picks on the regional site earlier, but it bears repeating. . .has a defending Super Bowl champion ever been as thoroughly overlooked as this Giants team? Every NFL preview you read this year for the NFC is fixated on the Packers or the 49ers or the Falcons or somebody else. Heck, the Giants aren't even the most publicized team in New York right now. . .that distinction goes to the Jets, largely because of a back-up quarterback.
Some teams would woof about disrespect after something like that, but the Giants just keep on keeping on. It's not like they're short of talent or anything. They have a two-time Super Bowl MVP at quarterback, a couple of very good receivers, and one of the best defensive lines in the league. It just boggles my mind that nobody is really talking about them.
The team they're hosting this evening is pretty solid as well. As the NBC pre-game pointed out, it's hard to believe that this is Tony Romo's tenth year in the NFL. The Cowboys fought the Giants for the NFC East title all the way to the end of last season, but the Giants prevailed in the season finale to launch themselves into the playoffs and on the run to their second title in five years.
We're about 15 minutes from game time at
The Meadowlands MetLife Stadium. If you're going to be watching the game, talk about it with your fellow Vikings fans here.
