Put the following single line in a custom style sheet for your browser:

.comment_master_list .citem .recommended{background: #ffff00 !important }

A custom style sheet is a style sheet that applies to all pages your browser shows and can override a style a site sets for its pages.

There are lots of sites that tell you how to make one (e.g. http://brugbart.com/Articles/custom-style-sheets )

The "#ffff00" is the color all rec'd comments will have (yellow not gold but good enough) on your browser.

It may be somebody at sbnation won't appreciate this, however.
