Joe Webb supporters may finally get their wish as Vikings QB Christian Ponder has been officially tagged with the big question mark for tomorrow nights big game at Lambeau Field. The questionable designation gives a 50/50 probability that he will play. Ponders elbow has kept him out of the last three practice sessions at Winter Park but Head Coach Leslie Frazier is optimistic that Christian will in fact be able to start. How much time Ponder will actually play remains to be seen.
The Vikings O-line will need to step up big to protect Ponders elbow from the Packers capable pass rush as well as the teams blitz-happy defense. It is unsure just how many hits Ponder will be able to absorb before turning the reigns over to Joe Webb.
With Ponders outstanding game last week leading to a Vikings victory over the Packers there is certainly a good amount of concern with potentially seeing Webb step into Ponders shoes with such limited experience and with the post-season at stake. You can bet Webb has seen extra reps since the win at home last week.
Of course Ponders questionable status could be an attempt by the Vikings strategists to put a little more on the Packers already heaping plate full of prep work to try to keep AP from running for another 200 yard game. Having to account for both Ponder and the lightning fast Joe Webb may be a beneficial situation for the Vikings.
