Vikings At Packers: Third Quarter Game Thread

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

After an interesting end to the first quarter that saw the Green Bay Packers put up the first touchdown of the evening, they kept the pressure up and now lead the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 17-3 as we head into the locker room at Lambeau Field.

The Vikings' offense could not get anything generated in the second quarter, and the Packers got a nice conversion on a fourth-and-five to push themselves into a first-and-goal situation. However, a nice sequence by the Vikings held the Packers to a 20-yard field goal from Mason Crosby, increasing the Green Bay lead to 10-3.

After a three-and-out for the Vikings, Green Bay got the ball back in good field position and took full advantage once again. The Packers took just 1:06 to go 62 yards, culminating in a 3-yard touchdown run by NFL Top 100 player John Kuhn™. That gave the Packers a 17-3 lead going into halftime. . .and, good news, the Packers will get the ball coming out of the locker room.

After the first drive of the night, the Vikings' offense has really done nothing. Joe Webb is just 3-of-12 passing for 22 yards, and the Vikings have yet to gain a first down through the air. The lack of an air threat has slowed down Adrian Peterson as well. . .after gaining 33 yards on the game's first drive, Peterson goes into halftime with just 45 yards on 11 carries. The Vikings gained 53 yards on their first drive, and just 43 yards on the five drives since then.

I won't lie. . .it's been ugly so far, folks. The patient's vital signs are fading rather quickly. But, there's one half of football to go from Lambeau and, win or lose, we'll be here for it.
