Alright, so I haven't done a FanPost in a while and decided that now was the time to pick it up again. The reason I feel the need is that I think there is a QB options out there that all of us here at DN may be over-looking. I'm talking about Bryce Petty from Baylor.
First, some info on him:Junior
Second, categories he is in top 2 of in all of CFB in as a QB
Yds/A (leader by 2 yards 13.9)
Sacks taken (Tied first 3 total)
TD/Int ratio 18:1 (second behind Mariota who is 20:0)
Rating 219 (Winston is second at 207 and no other QB is above 192)
Third, some links from around the interwebz that talk about him.
Fourth, my opinion on the matter.
So if you have seen what I have seen above, you've likely come to the same conclusion that you don't know why you haven't heard more about the kid. I mean, he's playing the QB position better than all other QBs in the metrics that matter and yet not a peep about him. I have watched a few of his games so far and have come to the conclusion that he just might be the most under-rated college QB out there.
Yes he comes from a system that produces QBs with big numbers, howewver, that same system is also responsible for last year's RoY QB...RGIII. yHe's having a down year this year, but I suppose that happens when you tear and ACL and are still supposed to somehow lead the team.
Petty has a beautiful bucket drop pass that in its pureset form is the best out there...and he also has the strength and accuracy to complete balls in stride and down field (as shown by his Yds/Att and 70% completion). The main point of this FanPost is to ask why is he not receiving any more attention (if any of you out there have an idea please share) and to consider him as an alternative option were we to miss on Mariota or Bridgewater. Ciao all!
