As many people (a lot of whom are fantasy football players) have noticed, there have already been a significant number of season-ending injuries taking place this year, and this is really a trend that has been ticking upwards for the last few years. This trend has become increasingly apparent with the high-caliber stars that have been lost over this season, sucking away at the lifeblood of several teams whom simply haven't been able to recover from them.

This is a long list that is certain to get even longer as the season goes on.
There have been reports over the last few years about how injuries, and especially season-ending injuries have been on the rise. http://www.esquire.com/cm/esquire/data/Dangers-of-the-Game-Report-Esquire.pdf (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81df8b27/article/nflpa-says-injuries-increased-in-2010-over-previous-years; this one gives a fairly good summary of the first article); these are links that detail a report by the NFLPA that described the increase in injuries from 2002-2010. I have been looking around the interwebs, and I honestly can't find an article any more recent than the ones linked above. It has started to become nearly impossible to find capable backups at some positions.
With all the problems with regarding concussions in the NFL, one would think that the NFL would put out more information about this problem. After how many high-profile players have been shut down for this year, us fans would love to know if there is any correlation between the jump in injuries and the push to make the NFL safer from a physical standpoint. If anyone else has information on injuries, I would love to hear about it in the comments.
