Well everyone, the Seahawks game was proof that we suck. Really badly. But I guess we have come to expect it as this miserable season drags along. And in todays NFL, all the finger pointing is going to go to the coaches and the QB (hence all my Ponder bashing).
So with all this in mind, where do we go from here? Well, in my opinion it all starts at the top with the coaches. Bill Musgrave runs a... Wait, what the heck does he run? Is it some sort of Tecmo Bowl 8-play hybrid offense? Because it seems eerily similar with the predictable play-calling:
via a.yfrog.comAnd Alan Williams and Leslie Frazier still run that "big play-preventing" Tampa 2. The only other team that runs it is the Cowboys. Oh yea, their D stinks to. We need to consider switching to a base 4-3 or SOMETHING that can actually get the D off the field. And maybe that eventually means that we switch to a 3-4 defense and completely blowing-up the current personnel on defense? Who knows?
But I am a lot more interested in the offensive scheme change that will come with the new coaching staff and QB (and yes, we are STILL going to draft a QB in the first round). One of the more interesting offenses right now is the air raid offense. This offense is very trendy in college football and I think that it could translate into the NFL very well. The air raid offense is designed so that an offense puts up a lot of points in a short amount of time, thus putting pressure on the opposing offense to put up as many points.
If we started running the air raid offense and it worked, we couldn't be stopped. So, what kinds of schemes do you think we'll end up running next year? Or should we just upgrade Bill Musgrave to head coach?.. Just kidding. That would be REALLY BAD!
