Which College Players Are Future Vikings Week 13 Review and Week 14 Primer

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Week 13 was quite a week with some huge upsets resulting in a new BCS picture. Baylor was smoked by Oklahoma State. Oregon was smoked by Arizona. LSU beat Texas A&M fairly handily. UCLA lost to Arizona State in a mild upset. The Golden Gophers lost to the Badgers in another mild upset which was probably disappointing to a lot of fans here. There were some other wins by supposedly really good teams against some cream puffs that is not worthy of mention.

The game of the week award goes to UCLA vs Arizona State only because the Bruins almost made it all the way back!

Wyoming vs Hawaii was also a pretty entertaining game.

There were some impressive performances from players that are likely to be drafted this past week too.

Derek Carr threw for 522 yards with 7 TDs and 0 INT vs New Mexico.  Brett Smith threw for 498 yards with 7 TDs and 0 INT vs Hawaii.  David Fales threw for 440 yards with 5 TDs and 1 INT vs Navy.  Andre Williams ran for 263 yards on 32 carries adding 2 TDs.  Ka'Deem Carey ran for 206 yards on 48 carries adding 4 TDs.  Antonio Andrews ran for 204 yards on 21 carries adding 3 TDs.  Bishop Sankey ran for 179 yards on 23 carries adding 3 TDs.   Jordan Lynch ran for 161 yards on 28 carries and 3 TDs.  Tyler Lockett caught 12 passes for 278 yards with 3 TDs.  Davante Adams caught 9 passes for 246 yards with 4 TDs.  Ty Montgomery caught 5 passes for 160 yards with 4 TDs.

The player of the week goes to ...

David Carr QB Fresno State who threw for 522 yards with 7 TDs and 0 INT vs New Mexico!

My current Heisman rankings are ...

Andre Williams RB Boston College
Derek Carr QB Fresno State
Jordan Lynch QB Northern Illinois
Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M
Jameis Winston QB Fresno State

... if I had to give it to one guy it probably would be Derek Carr.

Here are the Bowl Matchups that I want to see.  These are not predictions and probably do not even follow the way they assign these based on geography.  But these are the matchups that would like to see right now.

I know it may be considered early for Carr but I think by the time it is all said and done he will be ranked very high.  I like his skills and feel it is worth the pick considering the QB position is the most important on the field.  Trading down may be a consideration but it is risky.

Also, I realize picking a center in the second round is sure to be criticized.  It is OK though.  I like a guy that I can play in multiple spots.  Swanson may be able to do play guard and then would be a fine candidate to take over at center is necessary.

Well enjoy the games!
