Well guys this was the offense we have been waiting for all year, yes even without AP. I think this team could win out believe it or not and go 6-9-1, leaving us with a pick around the 7-10 range. You have both Ponder and Cassels' contracts up after next season leaving no reason to bring either back unless in a backup role. I think we will draft a QB that will sit a year and be in contention to start in 2015 prolly a Jimmy Garapolo, Aaron Murray or Zach Mettenberger who can learn behind a pair of veterans.
I hate signing FA's unless its for a reasonable amount, you don't build your team through FA you bring in role players to provide leadership and stability On to the draft my favorite time of the year my mock drafts change every week or so and it has a little bit this week as well
1st- Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame, this pick makes sense here, Guion and Evans are good rotational players and we need a dependable starter in this slot. He is a block eater and will free up and allow the DE's and LB's to get to the QB and was the main cog in that Notre Dame front 7 that took them to the NT in 2012
2nd Loucheiz Purifoy, CB, Florida, The defense upgrade continues this is a need on this team considering Cook will not be back. Purifoy excels in press and man coverage and would be a great 1,2 punch with him and Rhodes
3rd L'Damian Washington, WR, Missouri, IMO Simpson will be gone next year and Washington is a rare player with size and speed. He reminds me of a Miles Austin who is Physical at the LOS and can then burn you for the big game
3rd D'anthony Thomas, RB/WR, Oregon I said it earlier this week a match up nightmare. You could line Thomas up everywhere on the field in a role like a Darren Sproles or Danny Woodhead. He excels in PR/KR and would be a 3rd down change of pace RB
4th Aaron Murray, QB, Georgia- I have watch Murray the last 4 years he has been at Georgia and got to watch him in the SEC title last year against Alabama, and this year against Florida. Yes he is injured which is why we get him this late, he can make all the throws and has all the leadership qualities you look for in a QB.
5th Eddie Lackey, OLB, Baylor - Lackey last year had 102 tackles and this year he is backing it up with 97 will add a run/pass LB opposite of Chad Greenway
Lets hear some thoughts
