Matt Cassel epitomizes our QB quandary of the past 20+ years. He's average at best. Over the body of his career he has proven to be inconsistent and incapable of being "the guy". He's sometimes competent and if you catch him on a good day you might even think he's a legit NFL starter. But that's fools gold. Matt Cassel has been and will continue to be inconsistent and average.
To borrow a line from the common man, he is the best of the lousiest, and the lousiest of the best.
We have seen so many QB of his caliber come and go, and we have cursed everyone of them as we continue our search for the elusive franchise qb. Despite decades of watching average (at best) QB play there is still a large faction of fans who are buying into Matt Cassel and I think its ridiculous. Does anybody really think Matt Cassel can win a super bowl or are we just shooting for 8-8?
In so many ways Matt Cassel exemplifies the qualities at QB that have plagued this franchise for my entire life.
If this guy is the answer then what was the question? They have to address the qb situation this off season or they are resigning themselves to mediocrity.
Matt Cassel epitomizes our QB quandary and I for one can't stomach another retread, average, never will be QB. I for one would rather roll the dice on rookie after rookie until we find "the guy".
I'm sick of watching mediocrity, I want a championship and I know damn sure Matt Cassel isn't the qb to lead us to the promised land. For 20+ years guys like him have come and gone. The status quo has to change. Just because Ponder was a bust doesn't mean we should revert to the Matt Cassels of the NFL because we know...or we should know these types of guys DON'T win super bowls.
Its been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. Here we go again.
