With only 1 regular season game left on the schedule, April cant come soon enough for this Vikings fan....
1st Round- Darqueze Dennard CB Mich St. (Louis Nix III DT ND)
With no QB worthy of a 1st round grade at pick #8 its time to trade back somewhere between 15-20 and grab the best db of the 14' class and add some much needed talent to a secondary that already features a pair of future all pro's in Harrison Smith and Xavier Rhodes.2nd Round- Rashede Hageman DT MN (Kyle Fuller CB VT)
I know everyone is sold on an early round QB but with so many holes on defense and no true NT on the current roster this Golden Gopher will be a great addition to play along side Shariff Floyd for many years to come.3rd Round- Zach Mettenberger QB LSU (Aaron Murray QB Georgia)
After reaching on Ponder in 2011 the Vikes will not repeat history again and instead fill some needs on defense in the first couple rounds and grab their qb of the future in round 3.3rd Round via SEA- Zach Martin OG ND (Telvin Smith OLB FS)
I think you could argue either one of these guys for this pick but since Spielman did grab a pair of LB's out of Penn St last year and there is a shot that one or both of the Mauti/Hodges duo gets a shot to crack the starting line up next season so If it were me I'd go with Martin and hand Charlie Johnson his walking papers. Sorry Charlie, no hard feelings but you are the WEAKEST LINK!!!!4th Round- De'Anthony Thomas RB Oregon (Carlos Hyde RB OS)
With the Heisman runner up looking for a starting gig else where, it is time to grab our future #2 to the NFL's #1 work horse. Thomas is a bit undersized to be an every down between the tackles kind of runner but with what he lacks in overall size he makes up for nicely with top tier speed to hit the home run whenever given the ball in space.Rounds 5-7 best players available. (preferably defense)
Can't wait till April.....SKOL!!!!!!!
****If anyone could give me a clue as to what would be appropriate compensation for moving back in the 1st I would gladly update my selections. Thanks for reading.
