Background: Alright this mock is based on the imaginary scenerio where the Vikings have traded AP and I copied Christopher Gates' format (AP to the Cowboys for a 1st, DeMarco Murray and a 3rd next year). Also with the magical rainbow filled scenerio where eith Bill O'Brien, James Fankliin, Mike Zimmer or whoever has installed a 3-4 hybrid scheme for the Defense. The Vikings kept Chad Greenway, traded Ponder for a 6th round pick, resigned Griffen, Cassel and Gerhart. They let Cook, Allen, Williams, Johnson, Freeman and the expected bunch walk. Alright? Cool. Oh ya and BTW I didn't mock a QB in the first because in this mock I'm assuming Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles are gone... and I'm not big on Derek Carr. Ok.
1st - C.J. Mosely (MLB alongside Mauti)
1st (Via Cowboys) - Ra'Shede Hageman (NT)
2nd - Cyril Richardson (OG)
3rd - Jimmy Garoppolo (QB, the future)
3rd (Via Seattle) - Louchiez Purifoy (CB across from Rhodes)
4th - Aaron Murray or Tajh Boyd (QB 3rd stringers/QB competition)
5th - L'Damian Washington (WR)
So first of all I wanted to take care of the MLB position the heart of the defense and then I wanted to take care of the Line of Scrimmage and add some size, because if you can't win the battles at the line you will lose every game. I expect the Vikings to look towards FA to do more work on the secondary though, we need some experience back there for the nickel position and a experienced safety to play next to Smith. And yes I drafted 2 QB's. I say sign Cassel have him start this year and then you drafted your backup and 3rd stringer for the season. I think Jimmy Garoppolo if given a year to raise his standards of competition could become a BEAST. there is a reason all 32 teams have sent scouts to check him out. He's just about the total package, just has played against a poor level of competition. Plus he's just smashed just about all of Romo's records at EIU. Let the QB battles begin.
Oh ya, and I didn't bother mocking past the 5th round because we should be getting a grip of Comp picks after letting alot of big contracts go.
