Adrian Peterson Lone Viking To Make Pro Bowl

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

A team that wins four games probably doesn't deserve to get a whole lot of players named to the Pro Bowl, and that's what happened with the Minnesota Vikings. The Pro Bowl rosters were announced just minutes ago, and there is only one member of the purple and gold on the roster.

Running back Adrian Peterson will be the lone member of the Vikings making the trip to Honolulu this January. . .if he plays, what with his injury issues. You can't really blame Peterson if he decides to sit this one out. . .frankly, half the guys that were just named to the Pro Bowl are going to find reasons not to go. This is the sixth time in Peterson's seven seasons that he has been selected to play in the Pro Bowl.

The NFL is doing something different with the Pro Bowl this year, similar to what the NHL has done with their All-Star game. The players were selected regardless of conference, and teams will be selected, playground-style, next month. You can see the complete list of players that were voted in right here.

You really can't do a whole lot of complaining about any of the Vikings getting snubbed, with the possible exception of Cordarrelle Patterson. With the new format, however, it doesn't appear that there's any room for a kick return specialist on the roster. There are a couple of "special teams" guys, but they appear to be there for coverage on kickoffs and punts rather than for returns. Other than that, though, Peterson is really the only worth selection from Minnesota.

The Pro Bowl will be played the weekend before the Super Bowl. . .again, with about half of the guys that were actually named to the team just moments ago.
