Today is one of the final, and biggest, days on the college football calendar, as a lot of the major conference championships are going to be decided, whether it's in Conference Championship Games or through some other means.
Here are the Conference Championship Games that will be shown today, along with kickoff times and stations.
Conference USA Championship - Marshall Thundering Herd vs. Rice Owls - 11:00 AM Central, ESPN2
Southeastern Conference Championship - #5 Missouri Tigers vs #3 Auburn Tigers - 3 PM Central, CBS
Pacific-12 Conference Championship - #7 Stanford Cardinal vs #11 Arizona State Sun Devils - 6:45 PM Central, ESPN
Big Ten Conference Championship - #2 Ohio State Buckeyes vs #10 Michigan State Spartans - 7:00 PM Central, FOX
Atlantic Coast Conference Championship - #20 Duke Blue Devils vs #1 Florida State Seminoles - 7:00 PM Central, ABC
Mountain West Conference Championship - Utah State Aggies vs #24 Fresno State Bulldogs - 9:00 PM Central, CBS (I think)
The Big 12 Conference title will be decided today as well. The "Bedlam Game" will start things off, as the #6 Oklahoma State Cowboys play host to the #18 Oklahoma Sooners. If Oklahoma State can win that game, they will win the Big 12, regardless of what happens later. If the Sooners pull the upset, all eyes will turn to Waco, Texas, where the #9 Baylor Bears will be hosting the #23 Texas Longhorns. With an Oklahoma State loss, the winner of the Baylor/Texas game would win the Big 12 Conference and get their automatic BCS bid.
These teams all know that there's now going to be an open spot in the BCS, too. The hopes of the potential Cinderella from Northern Illinois got crushed in the Mid-American Conference Championship Game last night, as the Huskies lost to Bowling Green by a score of 47-27. A win by Northern Illinois would have guaranteed them a BCS berth, but now that's not happening, so there's an "at-large" spot that has opened up as a result.
It looks to be a pretty exciting Saturday of college football, as the National Championship picture gets that much closer to getting sorted out. If you're going to be watching the games anyway, hang out and discuss them here with your fellow Vikings fans.
