Tyrann Mathieu as a Viking anyone?

. . . . I have been talking myself more and more into the notion of Mathieu in Purple next year. As a result he has climbed to a third round possibility, up from late fourth/fifth round, in my latest mock drafts.

. . . . At first I thought of him mostly as a major step up from Sherels as kick returner/emergency cb, while possibly learning from and taking over for, Winfield at some point in the future. Lately I'm thinking that he may actually improve the nickel/dime package as well right off the bat and hence his value in the draft got bumped up.

. . . . But he is a year out of football, his fundamentals needed work to begin with, he's "size challenged" and he has an affinity for marijuana that puts his future in the NFL at some risk.

. . . . That might not matter to special teams, and perhaps not that much to nickel/dime packages either. And the Vikings were more than willing to take a similar risk on Simpson so . . . .

Right now my mock drafts are trending:

1) DT, LB

2) WR

3) Mathieu

4a) DT, LB, CB,

4b)LB, G, CB, WR

5,7a,7b) LB G WR

. . . . . It was hard for me to bump him up from the fourth round, but the role he could play on Vikings immediately and in the future almost seems worth it.
