Defending the Offense in support of a Defense

OK, I have been reading all kinds of things on the internet about the draft and FA as to how to best help the Vikings be a better team. To be honest I am sold on any one strategy. I see the debate really being Defense vs Offense and I can see the argument for both. Like I said I am not sold on anything but had a thought this morning I have not seen brought up on really any occasions regarding the contrast between building up the Defense vs building up the Offense.

The thing about it is one of the biggest aspects as to a defenses success is time on the field. If the defense never leaves the field then statistically they are at such a disadvantage. This is why right now I am throwing out the idea to the people who want to bolster the defense that without an offense that can stay on the field that any defense is in trouble because the long a defense is on a field the bigger the advantage to the offense. This is why right now I am torn because getting a true #1 receiver would GREATLY help our defense (in theory of course) not just our offense. It would allow the playbook to be opened up more and let our defense actually breathe! Again, this isn't my off season plan just an idea I have been thinking about. Can't wait to hear your guys' thoughts and have a discussion about this.
