This issue has been debated for the last week and now it is time for you to decide the course of action to take. There are three major directions that Mr. Speilman can take:
1, Hold Percy's feet to the fire as he has one year left on his contract and when push comes to shove, it is a legal contract. It really doesn't matter if less productive players have been making more money than Harvin as he has simply "out played" his rookie contract and that is just a bonus for the Vikings. He will potentially make near 3 million dollars next season and that sure isn't chump change. If he wants to play the "hold out" game, then put the tag on him next season as it isn't that easy to walk away from an NFL team once you've signed the contract.
2. Sign Percy to a new high dollar deal that officially marks his entrance into the "Super Star" club. The terms will need to be worked out but he will be paid a good base salary with escalators based on performance. Percy is an integral part of this team and should be treated accordingly. Heck, we would have paid a free agent the same amount of bank roll to come in and replace him anyway. We might as well invest in a player we know and love. Plus I have already shelled out for a #12 jersey.
3. Fire sale as this is just the type of distraction we have tried to avoid. Trade the kid at whatever the market offers. Out-of-site and Out-of-mind. Harvin is not a team player and has shown this with his outburst with coach Frasier and whining about his contract. This is a me first guy and doesn't have the type of character befitting a Viking player. Good luck with the (insert team name here). Pick up the pieces, pray Ponder improves and that the new rookie receiver and see and catch the ball. Pick up what we can in a free agent and a brand new rookie that should be a starter with the receivers we have retained on the team.
It was fairly well established in Friday's open thread that several of the posters are indeed members of the front office and possibly Spielman himself. So you can be rest assured that this information will be forwarded to the appropriate officials. Yes, I realize that some unscrupulous self serving individuals could try and stuff the ballot box. If that happens, I will be forced to delete the post and that will be the end of that.
