Vikings Free Agency: Minnesota Re-Signs Jerome Felton

USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings have retained yet another of their in-house free agents, according to Dan Wiederer of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Felton, who was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions, played for Detroit from 2008 to 2010. He split the 2011 season between the Indianapolis Colts and the Carolina Panthers, and signed with the Vikings in March of 2012. In helping to pave the way for Adrian Peterson's 2,097-yard rushing performance, Felton was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career in 2012.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the deal is for three years and is worth $7.5 million. Not a bad deal for a fullback who played a little less than 40% of the Vikings' total snaps in 2012.

Felton is the fifth of the Vikings' in-house free agents that the team has re-signed today, joining Phil Loadholt, Jerome Simpson, Joe Berger, and Jamarca Sanford.

It hasn't been a terribly exciting start to free agency from a player acquisition perspective, that's for sure. Then again, we probably should have expected as much.
