Our Vikings are looking much different after free agency began. This is a early mock draft, but you will start to notice names that are showing more and more often In many people's drafts.
1a.) Desmond Trufant CB
Even if Winfield comes back we still need to become better at CB throughout the draft.
1b.) Alec Ogletree ILB
Day 1 starter on the inside for the Vikes, and oh yeah he is nasty too!
2.) Quinton Patton WR
Best route runner in the draft and Ponder can use that to his advantage especially with Jennings on board, who is also a crisp route runner.
3.) Kawaan Short DT
Will slip because of questions about his motor. The Vikes veteran line will bring the best out of him.
4a.) Aaron Dobson WR
Another WR for Ponder to play with. If he would have played against higher competition he would not be here for us to take. He is very gifted.
4b.) Alvin Bailey OG
Road grader OG... Sounds like a Vike to me.
5.) Gerald Hodges OLB
OLB competition for Henderson and Spielman stated he wants to bring competition in at every position.
6.) Hugh Thornton OG
Hugh is a project, but can play multiple positions which makes him very valuable.
7a.) AJ Klien ILB
AJ may slip this far because he is not the most physically gifted as other LBs, but he is all motor and in years to come could prove he deserves the middle and push Ogletree to the outside, which actually might be a better fit for him.
7b.) Ace Sanders WR/ RB/ KR
Ace Sanders... Small and exciting. Just go watch his highlights before you say you would not want him.
7c.) Craig Roh DE
In true Viking drafting, the best DE will be the pick here. Roh is big but a project.
A draft similar to this will allow our team to become perineal contenders. I did not address safety because Sanford will start for one more and if he cannot hold up safety will be high on our list next year.
