When a great player gets ditched by his old team (Favre) he will play with a chip on his shoulder. If it is about the money, Allen has a giant chuck against the cap this year and with a slight adjustment we could bring in one or two more quality players (Winfield). Elway had to lay it on the line for Dumervil and he still wants to play for the Broncos so team loyalty isn't dead. They can find a way to make it work if the will is there.
I'm down for Carlos Dansby but with the Urlacher/Bears breakup it would be a good time for Speilman to give him the courtesy call he didn't get from the Bears. This goes against the getting younger strategy, but he would bring a big stick with him in the middle of the field. They spoke with Urlacher early so maybe it wasn't anything but he put it out there that he would play for Minnesota and even said he would play for the Packers, so he gets it. He would be a patch in the middle of the field as they shored up some other positions of need.
You always have to kick the talent tires, I know this was out there last week but two things had to happen before it was a real possibility 1)Bears had to cut ties with him and 2) The money had to come into line. Both of these things have happened so the door is open, with Singletary on the team the Vikings would a good fit for an ex-Bear inebacker.
