NFL Draft Day 1
1. Alec Ogletree ILB, Georgia
I’m very impressed with the Georgia Bulldogs defense. They are vicious, especially Ogletree. Ogletree is a vicious playmaker and recorded 111 tackles, 11.5 for a loss, 3 sacks, 5 passes broken up and one pass intercepted. Those are terrific numbers and especially since Ogletree did not play a full season (missed four games.) Ogletree is the best linebacker prospect, but because inside linebackers aren’t very plentiful in the first round, I’m predicting Ogletree will fall to Minnesota. The DUI doesn’t worry me. In fact, its a blessing because it could easily have him falling to us in the first round. That is a must pick. There is great defensive line that the Vikings could draft a quality defensive tackle in the third round. Ogletree might have to put on weight before the season.
Draft Day 2
2. Terrance Williams WR, Baylor
I love Justin Hunter, but Terrance Williams is the safest pick here. His play and his numbers were absolutely phenomenal. Williams also proved to be productive without a star quarterback passing to him. Williams also led the all of the receiver prospects in 2012 with 1832 yards, 97 receptions, and 12 touchdowns. Williams is fast and made some outstanding catches this year and has the ability to go deep, something the Vikings receiving corps lacked this past season. Williams also shattered records against West Virginia in a huge game recording 314 yards on 17 receptions.
3. Quinton Patton WR, Louisiana Tech
Quinton Patton had a great year and might be the best receiver in the third round, which is a must pick in my opinion because the Vikings drafting strategy is about getting the best talent available with each pick and this pick would not only fulfill that, but it would plug the gaping hole in our receiving corps. Patton had 1,392 yards on 104 receptions as well as 13 touchdowns this season. Patton had a great season and was impressive at the Senior Bowl. He was also the most consistent receiver during the Senior Bowl week.
