Vikings Career: 1995-2001
Another Viking Lifer, Thomas was drafted in 1995 in the 2nd round, 42nd overall. Thomas intercepted 22 passes in his career, 9 of them came in his rookie season, on his way to All-Pro honors. Thomas went on to start 87 of 98 games. He retired in 2001.
In 2007 Thomas revealed he had been suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. In 2009, the Vikings website reported that Thomas had passed away, which was a shock to everyone, including Thomas, who was still very much alive. The Vikings, of course, removed the report and issued an apology.
