WWE Looking To Recruit From NFL

We've made no secret of the fact that we're big fans of World Wrestling Entertainment around here. Well, I am, anyway. Apparently WWE has some fans at the National Football League offices, too, as it appears that Vince McMahon and company are attempting to strike up a sort of "working relationship" with the NFL.

Jim Ross, a WWE announcer who now assists with the company's talent-development program, is meeting Wednesday with NFL Players Association officials in Washington, D.C. Ross hopes to develop a working relationship that could lead to the NFLPA funneling players whose football aspirations have ended toward a WWE tryout.

"Everybody doesn't make the 53-man roster," Ross told co-host Jim Miller and me Tuesday night on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

"Some guys are going to be looking for work, and we've got some job openings. Maybe we can put the synergies of those two entities together and create something wonderful some day."

Professional football players have a pretty significant history in the world of professional wrestling/sports entertainment. It goes back to (at least) the days of men like Ernie "Big Cat" Ladd and continued on to such names as "Flyin' Brian" Pillman, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, and current Green Bay Packers' linebackers coach Kevin Greene. The WWE has also attracted athletes from other sports, such as amateur wrestling (obviously) and college basketball.

If WWE is serious about attempting to recruit from the National Football League, which members of the Minnesota Vikings do you think would make the best potential WWE Superstars? And yes, I know that the immediate answer is Jared Allen. Besides him, I mean.
