It's Not Who's Best - Its How You Use Them

I have had this question since PH left for the west coast.

I understand that he has great talent, but it always seemed to me that his best routes, quick hitters, bubble screens and the like, actually allowed defenses to crowd the box.

Not that he could not go downfield, I recall a very nice touchdown on a post pattern where he ran by the defender and the ball was right on target. But these plays take more time and receivers that run them don't typically get the number of touches that PH was getting. The problem is that these plays allow defenses to bring their safety's and corners into the box which is what they already want to do to stop AD.

So here is the question:

Will the Vikings be better as a team with a group of receivers through FA and the draft that are less prone to insist on getting the ball and more willing to spread the defense out? Will this group do more to open up the box for our tight ends and running game?

Ultimately, the questions about the PH trade and this years FA and draft are answered by, are we a better team, not have we found one player that can replace another.
