RANDOM VIKING OF THE WEEK: May 9, 2013

This is an idea I had a while back, and I figured I would finally follow through on it. So here it is ladies and gentlemen, your first installment of Random Viking of the Week.

The parameters are pretty simple, if they played as a Viking at some point in their career, they are eligible. For my first few installments, I went with a rather unique method of selection; I busted out my old football card collection and picked some names I thought would be fun to explore.

So without further ado, your first random Viking is…

David Palmer

Position: Returner/Receiver

College: Alabama

Vikings Career: 1994-2001

Palmer came to the Vikings via the 2nd round of the 1994 Draft, as the 40th overall selection. Palmer played a unique role at Alabama as a WR/RB/QB. In fact, Palmer was one of the pioneers of the Wildcat QB position in college, due to his experience as a QB in high school.

Palmer led the league in Punt Returning in 1995, and he returned 2 punts and 1 kick for touchdowns in his career. Palmer never really took off as a receiver however and only logged 4 starts at the spot, recording 73 catches and 631 yards for his career.

Palmer spent his entire career as a Vikings.
