The goal of this post is two-fold as explained below:
1) To let everyone know that Kluwe is the guest-writer for Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback for the Monday of June 24th.
2) To hopefully get the people off the
hating Kluwe because he is out-spoken and not dedicated enough to our favorite football team train (it's a long title, but accurate nonetheless).
Being that the first point is self-explanatory, I want to expound briefly on the second. Chris Kluwe is a breathe of fresh air in the otherwise cliche-filled world sports that we live in. We have all heard the millions of politically acceptable phrases uttered in press conferences, post-game interviews, etc that tell us absolutely nothing we can't deduce ourselves. As such, it's relatively significant when any athlete says something that is any way controversial. Even then though, most of the time we are talking about idiots spouting off ignorance-filled rants (see: Richard Sherman, TO, Ochocinco, and for good measure Skip Bayless in the non-athlete demographic, along with countless others) but rarely do we hear something that has actual, factual, logic behind it.
You see, most professional athletes sort of skip college, at least the academic part of it, which leads to mindless drivel about God-knows-what when they are asked for their thoughts (can you call them thoughts if the person that says them is mindless?). Kluwe on the other hand is a well-educated, well-informed, linguistical genius. Even if you disagree with 100% of what he says, you cannot argue the man's vocabulary proficiency nor his uncanny ability to string together phrases that just shouldn't work, but do. In that regard, I implore all of you to actually read his article two weeks from now with an open mind. I'm hoping that since he doesn't actually play for us anymore, his commitement to football should no longer be used as ammunition by his detractors (also hoping for a Vikings mention).
With that said, thanks for getting this far in my post and if you have any points you'd like to discuss either in agreement or dissention, please feel free to cordially let me know how you feel in the comments.
