Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament: Jim Marshall Advances

Darryl Norenberg-USA TODAY Sports

Scott Studwell has more tenure with the Minnesota Vikings than just about anyone at any spot in the history of the team. However, his time in our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament has been cut short, courtesy of one of the Purple People Eaters.

Jim Marshall took down Scott Studwell to move to the Sweet 16 of our tournament. When the final tallies were determined, Marshall had managed to snag 141 "recs" from our readers, while Studwell came away with just 47 "recs." Both of these men have made great contributions to the Minnesota Vikings, but in the end readers seemed to prefer Marshall's on-field career to what Studwell has contributed on and off the field.

Marshall's moving on sets up what is likely to be one of the most interesting match-ups of our Sweet 16. Marshall will take on wide receiver Randy Moss in what should be a great "old school vs. new school" match-up in our tournament.

No match-ups over the weekend, folks, as we'll be back with two more second round battles on Monday at 8 AM Central time. Thanks to everyone that has "rec'd" their favorites thus far in our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament!
