Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament: (4) Chuck Foreman vs (13) Ed White

We continue pushing through the first round of our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament, folks! In this match-up, one of the finest running backs in Minnesota Vikings history takes on a largely unheralded offensive lineman from the Vikings' Super Bowl era.

Chuck Foreman

Alma Mater: University of Miami (FL)
Acquired by Vikings: Round 1, 1973 NFL Draft
Seasons in Minnesota: 7 (1973-1979)
Position: Running back

Chuck Foreman's career with the Minnesota Vikings got off to a very nice start, as he was named the 1973 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Not just a great runner, he actually led the National Football League in receptions in 1975. In that 1975 season, he also finished second in the NFC in rushing yards with 1,070 and managed to find the end zone 22 times (13 on the ground, 9 through the air). He was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and a four-time All-Pro, playing in three of Minnesota's four Super Bowl appearances. He also held the team record for rushing touchdowns in a career with 52 until Adrian Peterson came along.

Ed White

Alma Mater: University of California-Berkley
Acquired by Vikings: Round 2, 1969 NFL Draft
Seasons in Minnesota: 9 (1969-1977)
Position: Guard

Another of the ten Minnesota Vikings to play in all four of the team's Super Bowl appearances, Ed White didn't get as much ink as his more heralded teammate, Ron Yary, but was an outstanding piece of the Vikings front line all the same. He was named to the Pro Bowl in his final three seasons in Minnesota before moving on to continue his outstanding career with the San Diego Chargers. He was an All-Pro for the Vikings in both 1974 and 1975.

There aren't any Ed White highlight videos out there anywhere, unfortunately, so I'll go ahead and link you to his art studio instead. Yes, it turns out that White is quite the painter in addition to having been a great offensive lineman.

Here's a review of how the voting process works, folks.

-If you want to vote for Chuck Foreman, rec the comment that says, "Vote - Chuck Foreman"
-If you want to vote for Ed White, rec the comment that says, "Vote - Ed White"

Don't rec both comments. . .we're on the honor system here, folks. Although I don't know why you'd rec both anyway. . .you'd end up just canceling yourself out.

Please do not reply to either of the top two comments. . .if you want to debate or make your case or what have you, feel free to do so underneath those top two comments. Remember. . .only recs count, so make sure that's how you register your vote.

The voting will remain open until 8 AM Central time tomorrow, at which point the next two match-ups will be posted.

Have at it, everybody!
