Suh, who has a pretty extensive history of dirty play for a guy that's only in his fourth season in the NFL, was rumored to be looking at a suspension, but the NFL decided to simply fine him a substantial amount of money instead. The hit occurred on an interception by Detroit's DeAndre Levy. Sullivan was pursuing the play and certainly not in a position to make the tackle, but Suh took a dive at Sullivan's knees anyway.
"I'm just happy I wasn't hurt - seriously injured," said Sullivan, a first alternate for the Pro Bowl last year. "There's a reason that play is illegal. It's incredibly dangerous. I just feel fortunate that I'll be playing this week."
The fine for Suh is, in fact, the largest in NFL history for an on-field incident. I think it's safe to assume that Suh's. . .shall we say, "illustrious". . .history in the league thus far played a role in the size of the fine. To borrow from the great Johnny Cash, I'm tellin' you life ain't easy for a thug named Suh.
Thankfully, Sullivan is okay and will be on the field Sunday. He had a pretty rough game on Sunday, as did every member of the Vikings' offensive line, but he's still a top-notch center and the Vikings really need to have him on the field.
