I have not always been the biggest Christian Ponder fan, but the way he finished last year helping us get to the playoffs was enough for me to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, these last 2 games have all but done it for me. He is inconsistent, doesn't have that pocket presence I expect he would have going into his 3rd year. He's not as accurate as I thought he was coming out of FSU and still makes these bone-headed throws that leave me speechless.
Josh Freeman looks to be done in Tampa. Schiano seemingly doesn't want him there and a fresh start I think would do him well. Freeman has had his inconsistency and maturation issues but I think he can get it done in the NFL. As far as my thought process goes surrounding the recent "trade" rumors that have surrounded Freeman. IF our quarterbacking situation does not drastically improve, and improve fast...I think we should offer a late round draft pick in next years draft (7th) and Matt Cassel (correct me if I'm wrong, but Tampa was interested in him this last offseason) for Josh Freeman. To me, its a low risk, high reward proposition. Ponder seems a decent enough guy but is not a starter in the NFL to me and is nothing more than a game manager. Thoughts?
