Per our good friends at ESPN, former Vikings beat reporter Kevin Seifert points out that based on historical analysis Frazier made the right decision to kick the field goal in their final drive vs. the Bears.
"As a result, statistical analysis gave the Vikings a better chance to win by converting the field goal (81.5 percent) and defending against a touchdown drive than going for it on fourth-and-goal (74 percent chance) and facing the likelihood of failure."
I know I debated the FG vs. go for the TD route with a few of you but it seems that based on history there is a nearly 8% greater chance of success with going with the field goal.
So now this matter is settled.:)
Now I expect to read many follow up comments why the ESPN analysis is not relevant, the situation was special, etc.
