Vikings Sign Andrew Sendejo To Contract Extension

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

While going through the list of names that you'd figure the Minnesota Vikings would have to give contract extensions to during the 2013 season, the name of Andrew Sendejo probably wasn't close to the top. But, on Thursday, the Vikings did just that, signing the special teams standout to an extra two years.

The extension will pay Sendejo $2 million over the next two seasons, with just $400,000 guaranteed.

Sendejo took the long way around to get to the National Football League. Undrafted out of Rice University, he spent the 2010 season playing for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL. He spent brief stints with the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets before signing with the Vikings in November of 2011.

He has yet to play a defensive snap this season, but he has done some very good work on special teams during his tenure with Minnesota. The contract isn't one that's going to break the bank or anything, and the team apparently feels that Sendejo is an important enough part of their special teams plans to ensure that he sticks around for a while.
