So, I was watching Thursday Night Football and...

I couldn't help but see what Christian Ponder could be if he reached his potential...Alex Smith. And that's not a bad thing. Smith has turned out to be a good starting QB.

He makes all the easy throws, is an underrated athlete who can make plays with his legs, doesn't have big arm but it's more than adequate, doesn't take many risks, he gets the ball into the hands of his play-makers and let's them do their thing.

Many will say that you can't win a Super Bowl in today's game with that type of QB, but I say that's far from the truth. They just need a little more help.

Look at Tom Brady's Super Bowl years. He was the definition of a "game manager". He didn't do it with gaudy statistics, he did it by taking what the defense gave him and making the right decision in clutch situations.

I think Ponder could be that type of quality quarterback (not Tom Brady, just quality). But I don't think he'll be given the time to develop into one, at least not in Minnesota.

What do you guys and gals think?
