Question

Does the Vikings coaching staff have a problem playing rookies?

I am curious to this. Do the rookies need to be flat out heads and shoulders above the veterans to earn a starting job, or do they just need to be better? I only ask this because Rhodes didnt immediately fill in for Cook when he went down. Jefferson did. And when Jefferson blew it, Sherels came in and surprisingly did a bang up job. (I only say surprisingly because last time I saw him play defense he was beyond horrendous.)

And the only rookie I have seen start recently has been Harrison Smith. And I am not sure when he got the job but i dont think it was week one, but I think he was pretty much heads and shoulder above his competition when he was drafted.

We have three first round picks who all play sparingly. Shariff Floyd, Xavier Rhodes, and Cordarelle Patterson all probably could contribute more than they are being allowed to. But I may be mistaken and do not see practice. But I would hope our first round picks were all immediate starters or at least were playing one third of the snaps.
