Now that football season is finally upon us, I thought it would be a good idea to collect some simple game day recipes to share with the DN community. I know there have been many discussions on favorite football fixin's, but I'd like to focus strictly on very simple recipes - the kind that minimize your time in the kitchen and maximize your time in front of the tube. You won't find any culinary masterpieces here (sorry, Admiral), but what you will find are quick and tasty, with a high likelihood of inducing heartburn.
Here are my two contributions:
Grape jelly meatballs
- 2 12oz jars Heinz Chili Sauce
- 1 32oz jar grape jelly
- 1 big bag of frozen meatballs (at least 3 lbs)
Put all in crock pot on low first thing in the morning. You could get crazy and add little smokies. These are ready as soon as they're hot.
Chili cheese dip
- 1 big Costco can of nacho cheese sauce
- 4 cans Hormel Chili, No Beans (use Hot if you're feeling sassy)
Add 2 parts cheese (or more) to 1 part chili in crock pot, set to low. You could get crazy and add a can of Ro-Tel or salsa. Serve with tortilla chips.
What are your favorite, super-simple, crowd-pleasing recipes?
