Zimmer will be finalizing he contract on Monday. Then Spielman and Zimmer will have one busy schedule. Talent evaluation understandably took a back seat to Frazier and Co trying to save their jobs. Zimmer's ability to tranform rag tag units into lean mean fighting machines will need to come out strong, and hopefully he will be able to work with a lot of the returning players.
Marcus Sherels PR : Unless Sherels has illusions of grandeur; he will be back in purple.
Chris Cook CB: He has been disappointing. However, he has talent and his price will be right considering the previous season. I would like to give Zimmer the chance to work with him.
Desmond Bishop LB: We will have the inside track to resigning him. He is coming back from 2 injuries and will be playing for Vet minimum, leaving a huge upside should he stay healthy.
Joe Webb: He will be cheap, and he is still learning and showing progress. No reason not too. Might not make it through camp, but he will be there.
J'Marcus Webb: He will be cheap and a decent back up for RT
Taylor Mays S : Not a flashy player, but he is one of Zimmer's guys and is extremely versatile.
Alteraun Verner CB : Not a hosehold name, and not a game changer but a solid corner. He would be a perfect fit across from the Rhodes
Vinne Rey ILB: He is another one of Zimmer's guys. He is a restricted FA, and the Bengals will more than likely match, but it depends on how they feel about Ray Malauga.
Terrence Cody NT: Reclamation project. Cody has yet to live up to the potential he had coming out of school. He is only 26. Another possibility would be Ziggy Hood DT, but I prefer Mount Cody.
Pat Sims DT: Solid rotational DT that would offer more than the likes of Fred Evans or Letroy Guion. Sims has played in Zimmer's defense previously and would be a stronger candidate to sign over the likes of Fred Evans.
Michael Johnson DE: The main reason Griffen will not be resigned. Zimmer wants to retain Johnson and I figure Johnson as an UFA will want to play for the coach that helped develop him to he is today. He will not be cheap. Somewhere in the ballpark of $40 million for 5 years.
